TravelPal

Ultimate travel guide

TravelPal is a mobile application that is designed with a goal to simplify the travel experience, making it a stress-free adventure.

The primary focus of the application was to ensure a customized travel experience that would correspond with their needs, individual interests and budget. In this case study, I will show you the journey and obstacles I have faced. The case study includes research, prototyping and testing stages as well as the final product.

Problem solving statements

I find that most people are not only time limited when it comes to travel planning, but sometimes they are not even aware of little details that could make or break their travel.

Here are some of the problem solving statements:

Time-consuming planning

A huge issue most users experience is the amount of time that goes into a successful planning. Researching a county you plan to visit, you have to thing of a million things like transportation, fun activities, food, places to stay and important places to visit making all of this extremely overwhelming. A lot of users added that they simply didn’t know how to plan correctly leaving them with unsuccessful travel experience. Having a platform that can curate your needs is something anyone could appreciate. I have used an example of a video where an influencer is explaining the fuss and problems tourists face when traveling:

Personalization

Travel experience should be curated towards you, not the other way around. Simply researching “must place to visit in Rome” isn’t that personalized, is it? Many existing travel apps provide generic recommendations that fail to consider individual travelers’ unique interests and preferences. TravelPal allows users to discover personalized recommendations based on users specific preferences and interests, making it a very much tailored travel.

The inevitable stress

Last but not least, one of the worst factors of travel is the stress. Users wont need to ask themselves “ Where are we going to stay?” “How are we going to handle transportation?” etc. By having this form of guide, users don’t have to stress since their travel is already planned.

Ideation

I created a user flow to help users understand the interaction with the application.

The user flow outlines the steps needed to book a guide. I focused on creating a simple flow that minimized the number of steps required to complete the process.

Wireframe

Many designers skip the detailed wireframe phase, which can be acceptable in certain situations.

However, there are several benefits to creating a detailed wireframe, such as providing a clear visual representation of the application’s layout and user interface, improving communication between designers and stakeholders, saving time and reducing costs, and creating a better user experience. These benefits make the extra effort and time invested in creating a detailed wireframe well worth it in the end.

Travel Screens

The screens displaying the offer Travel pal has made for users trip such as hotel recommendations, food, commute routes etc.

The user will also be able to save the recommendations he likes to review it later. These features are essential for a travel applications success as they provide users all crucial information regarding their travel. The availability of personalized detailed guide such as reviews from other travelers can greatly influence the users decision making in choosing a particular TravelPal.  Overall, these features improve the user experience and make the application more user-friendly.
